Our Basis for ChurchBASIS OF THE CHURCH1 That our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh, is the sole and absolute authority in all matters pertaining to faith and practice, as revealed in the Bible and that the church has the liberty under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to interpret and administer His laws.
2 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the person of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
3 That Christian Baptism is the immersion in water in the Name of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, of those who have believed in their heart and professed repentance towards God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, who “died for our sins according to the scriptures; was buried, and rose again on the third day”.
4 That it is the duty of every member to bear personal witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to take some part in the evangelisation of the world.
5. Baptists are part of a world-wide Christian Church. As a Baptist Church, while we are dependent on God for everything, we are independent in the fact that we run our own affairs, which means that we are self-supporting in everything we do, but we are affiliated to the Baptist Union of Great Britain. |
