Weekly ActivitiesThe Church is used by a number of groups who are not affiliated to the Church. However the groups listed below are associated with the church.
Church open for Prayer 8:00am to 6:00pm on the first Thursday in the month. Monthly on the first Thursday of each month the Church is open for anyone to come in and find a tranquil environment, peace and quietness. A time to reflect, to focus on God, to pray and to listen. It also a time where should you want it, someone will pray with you.
Games evenings about 7.45pm - 1st Tuesday or 3rd Thursday
These occur at the Church and are hosted by David Carruthers 01494 711264. All men are welcome. We play a variety of board games - Medici, Ticket to Ride, Bluff, Manhattan, to name a few. You don't need to know these games to join in, they are easy to learn, alternatively bring your own. Bring your own drink and nibbles and come and have a great evening.
Happy Hearts and Hands 9:30 - 11:00 am - 2nd Tuesday term-time only This is Playmates with a difference (see below for details about Playmates). We believe that the Christian message of Jesus and his love is an important one for all ages to learn about so once a month the crafts are focused around a story from Bible (e.g. Noah) or a Christian theme (e.g. love). During the morning a story will be told to all who want to listen and then the children get to use musical instruments during the song time.
Mid week groups about 8pm - Wednesday Evening, Thursday Morning and Thursday Evening These occur at different venues and at different times during the week, if you would like to join one please either leave a message for Mike on 01494 712479, email the church on hgbaptistchurch@tiscali.co.uk or talk to one of the deacons after the Sunday morning service.
Playmates 9:30 - 11:00 am - Tuesdays term-time only For pre-school children and their carers. A friendly atmosphere with toys and activities, coffee and chat. Everyone welcome. Feel free to pop in. Term-time only. £1.50 per family.
Pop-In Lunch 12:30pm - 1st and 3rd Wednesday in the month (not August) A light lunch of soup followed by baked potatoes or ploughman's (depending on the season) with tea or coffee is served on the first and third Wednesdays of the month (except August). As the name implies, anyone can pop in to any lunch without pre-booking but please be at the church by 12:30 as lunch is served promptly. There is a small charge for the lunch (currently £3).
Time 4 God. 11:15am - 1st Wednesday in the month (not August) On the first Wednesday of each month (except August) there is a 45 minute traditional service in the church. This includes hymns, prayers, the Lord's prayer, a Bible reading and a short talk and is followed by coffee. Many who attend this then stay and enjoy a pop-in lunch.
Women's Fellowship 2:15pm fortnightly on Thursdays Members and friends meet in the hall on alternate Thursdays to share in Christian fellowship together. There is often an outside speaker or themed talk and always tea afterwards. Anyone is welcome. For details of the present programme of events and speakers, please contact:
